Renter's Insurance Addendum

We want to ensure that you are aware of how to best protect your personal property. As a guest/tenant renting an apartment in our building, it is important that you are aware of the following:

1. The property owner’s/landlord’s insurance does not cover your personal property. The owner’s/landlord’s insurance policy only provides coverage for the building’s structure and the owner’s/landlord’s contents.

2. If any damage occurs to your rented/leased apartment or should you or a guest become injured in your apartment, you may be held personally responsible for the injury and/or any damage to your apartment.

3. Renter’s insurance provides personal property and liability coverage to protect you in the event of your negligence or liability. In order to protect your own interests or your property, it is recommended that you secure Renter’s Insurance for your term of stay with us.

I intend to purchase or maintain Renter's Insurance because I understand that the insurance coverage purchased by the management or owner is not intended to protect me, the resident, against any loss or damage from burglary, vandalism, fire, smoke, or any other risks to my personal property or belongings or to protect against loss or damage resulting from my or my family's negligence. I also understand that by not having personal liability insurance, I could be liable to third parties or to the property owner for certain perils and understand that I should not expect the property manager or owner to be responsible for such losses.

I agree to list the landlord, as an additional insured to my rental policy. Please note: By having the landlord listed as an additional insured, you will be eligible for a reduction in the amount of rental increase on your anniversary date at the time your rental amount is adjusted.
